LA COUPE D'AFRIQUE DES NATIONS 馃敟馃嚚馃嚠馃(Week #80)

Hey! This can't be long today. Sorry! This week was good! Quick edition was Monday:p day Tuesday:district council Wednesday:exchange 1 Thursday:exchange 2 Friday:weekly planning Saturday: La Coupe D'Afrique (the African cup) Ok time for a little bit of details Tuesday we had a good district Council with only a lillll bit of chastising. We had a good day. Got some good food, and I bought 2k worth of menthe au lait (I hope I spelled that right) it's like minty frozen milkshake stuff. Elder Hendrickson 馃Η compared it to the shamrock shake at del taco if you know that. Wednesday we had an exchange. I worked with Elder Matthews. He's a pretty new missionary but he's a great guy with great intentions. His French is pretty good too. We worked hard. We were aiming for a lot of lessons with member help but we also without even trying got 4 good new friends that day. Definitely a tender mercy. All in all it was a good day Thursday we had another exchange, I was with Elder Dakpo, someone I was with for a tinnnnnyyyyy bit when I was in the office. He's a good guy. This is his last transfer. Honestly the day wasn't exactly how we wished.. we didn't find much success at all. I think we had one lesson but it was fine regardless! We had fun at least. We found some good food spots too which was a highlight Friday was cool. This week I've started to make french fries a lot with a side of some sauce I made, there's onions garlic salt lime mayo and parsley and its pretty gas ngl. Especially with fries, also I haven't burned myself since haha Woo-hoo Also Friday night we had a rendez vous (appointment) with this kid and all the sudden his whole gang pulled up. Like tons of them just messing with us..we got some quirky responses in, took some Selfies and them started teaching one of them and their family. It was actually pretty cool, we had a good spiritual lesson and we'll definitely go buy again. We'll hope they're there OK SATURDAY WAS WILD HAHA Ok so I'm really really blessed to be serving In the specific country in Africa that happens to be hosting the African Cup of Nations this year. Basically all the African cups get together and play tournament style to see who's the best of the best. This is in ivory coast and they've been building stadiums to be able to properly host it. There's 6 stadiums I think and some of them are super cool. Ivorians are also SOOOO proud of their country (for good reason) so everyone was going CRAZYYY on Saturday.. there were some people telling us if we didn't wear our jerseys in the evening they would hurt us ahha. Also we would round corners and a group of kids would start chasing us with horns and blowing them in our face asking for money. It was so loud and hectic. It was getting CHAUD. To celebrate this super awesome opportunity I have I bought a new jersey. IT GOES SOOO HARD WHAAA. It's so nice. I'll attach a photo. Definitely not wearing it until I go home. Same with my white one that says "le blanc" on the back.. so legendary. Also during all this craziness a catholic church right next to our stake center started breaking down one of the walls because they believed it was for them, however it was definitely for us ahah..so lots of members came to protest and the cops got called and it was psycho. The catholic church even pulled out a bulldozer and just started going ham haha. It was wild, I was getting tons of messages from members etc. Ok I said this can't be long so I'll go but instead of doing winners of the week (unless someone really really deserves it) I'll be doing miracles of the week! This week we had lots of miracles as well. The miracle id like to share was about a teaching we had. There's a family we found in the same city as us that's really awesome. We love them a lot and they always give us food ahah. Sadly the husband is never there because of work, so we always have to find a member to help us. Well one day we found a member willing to help us (already a miracle) and we went to their place. We decided to teach about the restoration. We then got to the part where we talk about Joseph smith. (For those of you that don't know he is the first prophet of the restoration of the church Jesus Christ created during his life, if you would like to know why Jesus' church needed to be restored feel free to contact me and I'd LOVE to answer!) When we got to this part the Husband happened to come back from work! He came at the perfect time for the Holy Ghost to confirm of the truthfulness of our message. We decided to show them a video about Joseph smith and his experience with God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. After the video I felt inspired to ask a question. I told her, I will not ask you WHAT you understood while watching that, we'll talk about that after, but I what I will ask: How did you feel while watching that video. After a pause of 5-10 seconds she explained that she felt something new. She felt like peace took over her entire body from head to toe, she said she felt a burning within her. We instantly went to read Galates 5:22 which talks about the spirit (one of my favorite scriptures the missionaries showed me when I was about 12) and then we read Moroni 10:5. She then turned to me and said wow, I understand! The Holy Spirit is telling me that Joseph Smith really is a prophet and your message is true! It was truly a powerful moment and it was such a blessing the husband was able to experience the great change of his wife's heart. I know everyone felt the spirit and I hope the family can continue. Also I had a random prompting to move that appointment a day up, if we wouldn't have done that we wouldn't have seen the husband! God is good! Sorry this was long still, enjoy some photos!
