The Rat (Lacrosse Ball) (Week #41)

Welcome Back everyone, thanks to all that read, if you don't read i dont really care haha, this is my way of journaling pretty much soooo. Anyways this week(especially monday - thursday) was AWESOME. a lot happened. lets break it down Monday So monday morning before we left the apartment i went to the bathroom and saw poop on the floor (not human poop don't worry) rat poop haha. There was a trail of poop coming from the bathroom drain so we assumed it came in and then got scared pooped on the floor and then went back down the drain haha, idk kinda weirdddd. Then Elder McCurdy went to the Banco Forest as an activity for all the missionaries going home. Soooo, I got to spend the morning with Elder Cavé and Elder Reshetar, it was awesome! We went to a nice bakery and ate super good pastrys. Then we went to pick up my glasses, i got them and i actually like them. for the price they were i can see perfectly and they work how i wanted them to so what a success. Then went to the office and just talked to each other about who knows what. It was nice. I'll add pictures of me in my glasses don't worry. Tuesday Tuesday morning we went to district council, left 30 minutes earlier than we usually do and showed up 15 minutes late due to some bad traffic. After it was all done we were planning on getting tchep (senegalese rice) and going back to the office, but we learned the sisters had to go back to the office too. So we gave them a ride back to the office! (dont worry we got permission from presidentttt) it was actually super fun. One of the sisters who i thought was like the most innocent sister ever told us she listened to nicki minaj, cardi B, and all these crazy artists. then she started singing these songs hahaha. it was insane i was laughing so hard. After that we had a pretty normal day in the office. At the end of the day on the way home we stopped by this little spot outside of a burger resturant that sold pain chien.. literal translation: dog bread. i've only had it once and it was really tasty. don't worry they don't actually use dog. i believe that's what it was in the past but now they've changed it but kept the name. anyways, like i said, the first time, super tasty. this time? not so much. my stomach did not agree with my purchase the following morning. After leaving the pain chien spot we went home, but on the way home we hit a gbaka, ( a big bus that drives like a maniac and like they're the only ones on the road but with like 20 people inside). Don't worry, i wasn't driving. But it went really well, the guy was super humble, there wasnt much damage, and saw we felt bad so he just told us to go. then all the people inside the gbaka started chasing us banging on the car and saying (we want money give us 10,000 cfa) but the driver was like nah go, so we peaced out of that place. finally there's always leaders hanging out of the side of gbakas telling the world what direction they're going incase anyone wants to join the ride. I saw a midget with that job that day, it was awesome. mccurdy took a picture Wednesday Ok so for lunch that day we had a little colaboration with the abidjan east elders, and all got together and had some super tasty sauce chicken and rice. it was awesome. We had tons of fun and it's actually super cool to see how the east elders do it on their side of things so i'm excited to continue growing my skills in the office In the office that day we organized allll the phones in the office which was nice, and i found a new organization app so i'm learning how to be efficient haha. Then after the day we had dinner w/ The Stratton's. The Stratton's are the Senior Couple over the construction of the temple. This guy is a spiritual beast. I've only really been in his presence 2 times during my mission but both times i felt the spirit super strong and i hope that i will be able to have that effect on other people when i grow more and understand the spirit better. it was awesome. he said some awesome stuff about the temple and how worthy missionaries will experience miracles the day of dedication. he also said that we're not tooo far away from the official lighting of the temple.... stay tuned! i'm so excited. They fed us some deep fried rice with this super awesome sauce and chocolate pudding. also cookies. they kept passing it around and insisting we took cookies until they were gone. it was crazy. i didn't think i could fit another cookie but 5 cookies later there i was. Thursday So thursday morning was district leader training. i got to see some awesome missionaries, including elder tanner my last comp. It was super fun. McCurdy and I had to present something about audits so it was fun to be involved and get to see it go on a little bit. Highlight of the Week time! after district leader training we had to go run an errand. There were two sisters in yopougon who's charging port was jammed and they couldn't get it to work. So we had to go out to them and get them a new phone so that they could, work, make calls, and always have a way they can contact in case of emergencies. Well, they happened to live in Niagon 4. Which happened to be touching my old area Niangon 3! So obviously i took a detour so i could drive past some friends who were working there! i drove past marcellin, he's the best, he speaks english. he wasn't there tho sadly but i told the others to repeat the message and tell him i was there. then i drove by sister comfort ( the first woman i baptized ) and she was so happy to see me. man i love her so much it was such an awesome experience. i was smiling from cheek to cheek the entire time. i wish i took pictures. Don't worry i didn't stop by any of their houses. i wasn't trying to waste time so we just drove by some spots on the way to the sisters i knew they could be. then we got to the sisters and switched their phones. Then we ended the afternoon eating at PICASSOS the best pizza and ice cream place in the ivory coast (my opinion) it was super tasty and all the workers recognized me haha. they all called me by my tribal name "koffi". it was funny NOW I'LL EXPLAIN THE TITLE Thusday night after all of that we came back to the apartment, the lights were off and it the room was barely lit from the little light we had outside of the house. I was in front and then we saw it. The Rat. The rat we thought went back into the drain really never left. We saw it run into the kitchen and we all got a weapon of choice. I got a Mop, Reshetar got a scraper with a metal pole, and McCurdy got a broom. We stood at the kitchen door waiting for the brave rat to make a run for it. We had to nudge it along by kicking the oven it was hiding under. Finally it ran out, i stuttered it with my mop, then mccurdy wacked the thing with the broom. That's what you get for hiding in our house. I won't go into details, or show pictures, but it died. Don't worry we weren't brutal with it. then we had to dispose but if we left it in our apartment or the trash maggots would eat that thing so quick. so we got a dust pan (lacrosse stick) and treated the rat like a lacrosse ball over the wall of our backyard, i'll link the video. Watch if you'd like. I highly recommend watching but i wont make you. Friday not much happened, or today. Sheesh dead serious almost sent this without a winner of the week. That would have been TRAGIC! Anywaysss.. the Winner of the Week this week is..... Kynnli Harryman! Wooohoooo! She wins because she's leaving on a mission this week and im so proud of her choice to serve! Her farewell is tomorrow so that's super exciting. (I told my mom to go for me) so yeah! She's going to tahiti french speaking which is SICK and it felt like she deserved a shout out! I dont know if she ready my emails, but if she does, here ya go! J'espère que tu as un bon week-end et que ta discours dimanche va bien passer. Merci beaucoup pour le français que tu m'as enseigné avant la mission, même si j'oublie tout avant j'ai parti. Merci encore! anyways, a week full of adventure, if you'd like the photos of the rat, message me seperately, if not, i understand haha. A good week full of spirit and of exciting experiences. I love my mission so much and wouldn't trade it for the world. If any of you are thinking about serving a mission. let this be your sign to DO IT. it'll be the best choice you ever make. New Experiences, New Friends, all while building your relationship with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Definitely would recommend 10/10 ask anyone they will say the same. love y'all and god loves you more! enjoy some bomb pictures
