I LOVE HOSPITALS! (Week #40)

40, 40 weeks, thats 280 days, that's a lot of days. that's more days then i could count without losing my patience. That's cool. I'm officially over 9 months which is absolutely insane. Shoutout to Elder Rowland who came out the same day as me. 9 months really changes a person. you not 9 monthers wouldnt understand. Even if you have more than 9 months. you still dont understand. Yako! Anyways. I dont know what happened this week. We had lots of conference type stuff so i got to see a lot of missionaries. we also had general conference. I guess you could call this week the week of conferences. anyways, allons-y So We had general conference last week at the ward building saturday and sunday. we had a pretty good turnout i was happy with the amount of people there. i love general conference. It also was great seeing my french improvement. I remember last conference i didnt understand a word. speaking of last conference, i've officially watched 2 semi annual conferences since my mission. That's 2/4. That means i'm halfway done. with my mission? 1 year mark confirmed? Idkkkkk. next thing you know im at 3/4 and im pretty much done. CRAZY. except the fact that none of that makes sense.. honestly its kinda sad! time here is passing TOO quick! I need to live up every second more because before i know it ill be flying home. Monday we picked up a missionary because he was going home, and also stopped by the hospital (farah) so that i could get an eye examine for a new perscription. woohooo new glasses! my mom tried to convince me to get some new ones before my mission but i said no mom i know best. (ps mother knows best) to be fair tho i never thought i'd be in the office looking at computers all day and now look where i am. I'm not complaining though haha i love the office. Tuesday we had district council and then went back to the hospital to have the official examine because the first was just setting an appointment, and guys. It was the most american thing i've seen my entire mission. It was CRAZY!! it was so organized, the guys office was super neat and he was from france or something so he had a good accent. He brought me to a machine to test my vision that i've literally seen in america. Me and McCurdy couldnt pick up our jaw from the floor. It was sick. I wanna work in a hosptial hahaha. tuesday afternoon the springboarders (missionaries in their last 2 transfers) were at the office so i got to talk to all of them. Wednesday i dont remember a single thing lol thursday was MLC at the office so i got to see all the ZL's (zone leaders) and STL's (sister training leaders) of the mission! it was hype, i also had to present something, in french. My french is good but my vocabulary for the thing in particular was lacking. We got through it pretty decent but it was a little nervous haha. i fixed some phones and it was great! Played some little games, messed with some people. And had a good evening Ok quick interlude but really im almost done... this week ive been trying to bring out my inner artistic self haha. I've been working on just making things look better and making posters of christ all of that. Its been great. I made the cover for a packet we gave to all the zls and people seemed to like it and I've really just been trying to help in that department. Honestly i think im doing surprisingly good knowing my artistic capabilities. Also mccurdys been extra training me this last week. we went grocery shopping with sister morris and it felt like going to the store with my mom ahhaa getting groceries putting them in the trunk. it was so weird. It was a nice nice store too. we met a super cool french guy who spoke english and helped us out a little. it was great. Ok last story... i think. read it.. please so like i said. I got my perscription towards the beginning of this week so that means the search for glasses begins. I was looking far and wide. doing my research even. we found some places in cocody, the city the office is in. Sister litchfield gave us the contact of a man who is a member and he was about 30 minutes away but it took an hour to get there, anyways on the way went to a shortcut trying to be tricky, and got ourselves on a one way road full of only white kids going to school! It was crazy! I've never seen so much white people here. Anyways we continued and got to the place and he was nice and all but he just didnt have any glasses that i needed/ wanted 1st place done ok now we went to the next place, it was called regard'ivoire. and holy crap it's so so expensive. it was 130,000 just for the perscripted lens. without the frames, or blue light. to put it in perspective 130,000 is about 210 dollars. without all the other stuff. That might be kinda normal but here that's wild, anyways we said nah next place. THE NEXT PLACE CHARGED US 170,000 JUST FOR THE LENS. WHAAAAA not cool man not cool. so we dipped quick, 170,000 is abt 290. finally i was sick of it, this was 3 places and no luck. so , i made some calls. talked to some people. and found another member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in youpougon ( a cheaper part of abidjan) and i talked to him and i could get everything, lens, frames, perscripton, blue light, all of it, for 70,000. oh my such a deal, but wait, he said, because you're a missionary, i'll get it to ya for half off. 35,000. God is good. i love the members here in ivory coast. they're so humble and so willing to pay for our food help us anything. even when they dont have much to give anyways we went in today and looked around, i found a pair i like i decent amount so we're gonna get that. im going back monday morning to get them with the perscription. ill let you know how they are. hopefully they're not a scam. anyways, time for the best part. and today its extra special the winner(s) this week areeee..... AUNT SUZETTE, AUNT LEILA, AND AUNT MERRY! WOOOHOOOOO a special trio win! they win this week because i was informed that they read my email every week and that just makes me so happy. I love you all and i'm so happy you enjoy my emails! sorry i know they're boring occasionally, and also they're kinda long but thank you for sticking with me. I love you guys so much and a piece of you is with me here in abidjan allowing me to help others to the best of my capabilities, and try and bring some sort of joy to the beautiful ivorians of the ivory coast. thank you for everything you have all taught me. love you! thanks everyone enjoy the pictures. also im happy that utah is finally heating up for all my utah readers! although, i missed the most insane ski year ever, that kinda sucks. dont worry im over it. see ya next week!! dont forget to pray and read your scriptures! gods patiently waiting on you :)
