Elder Ducker vs. African Cockroaches.. Who Will Win?! (Week #27)
Welcome everyone to this weeks email, love you all so much, i'll start with the good news then we'll get a little into some of the dirty stuff, dont skip to the end that's pretty crappy.
Ok i had an Exchange with elder Bingham it was fun haha, i learned a lot, to be honest i've been here in niangon 3 for a while so that means i do exchanges in the same old area, i'm starting to get a little sick of it. I think i could make it another transfer if necessary but i see myself getting shipped out at the end of this month. But during the exchange I convinced people i lived on the moon, and that i was neighbors with messi. This was a group of kids from the age of 3-18 and there was about 15 of them and they all start flipping out when i said i had a potato garden on the moon. That was epic. Also i met up with Elder Kankondé, i think thats how you spell it. That guys funny haha every time we see each other he says ahhh le blanc!(the white) and i say ahhh le noir!(the black) le grand esprit!(the great spirit) its not racist haha i promise its kind of just the culture here at least in that situation. I dont know why the great spirit got thrown in there but it did once probably when i knew way less french and now it's just a thing.
Yako, now for the title, the african cockroaches i talked about last time are officially out for blood, except i dont really know how much a cockroach can do except for be annoying. anyways, i was in the shower one night with the little water we had left. all the sudden i see one of them, the african cockroaches. Now i hope people dont think this is too gross but in this situation i didnt have shower shoes on or anything, the floor was mostly clean. then this guy starts running at me. what am i supposed to do, im not scared of the thing but there aint no way im slapping that with my hand. i grab the bidet i got by my toilet and start hosing that thing to death. then he starts running under my legs and on the wall right behind me so i flip a 180 and start hosing the wall looking for things i could slap this guy with. I yelled at my comp through the apartment. which is very small i definitely didnt need to yell and told him to throw my jandal under the door.. he did and i swear it took like 5 direct hits to kill that guy. I have a picture to prove i won for my doubters. if one starts crawling on me while im sleeping though im requesting an emergency transfer im so sick of them.
We went to picasso, it was epic, we ate pizza and ice cream however sadly due to the celebration for new years they didnt have much options. Bussing regardless.
We had a Zone Conference and our mission said that we're disobedient and we need to do better. Valid, he spit bars. He also sent a great talk. I would send it but im too lazy. sorry its about missionary work and being consecrated.
Elder Cavé, the one I've talked about in past emails is now AP, he left before we could work together for the second time, it wouldve been in our sector too rip. we were about to have an exchange. anyways, love the guy.
Work Update: We got two new friends on date for baptism. Esther and Serge (shoutout elder nuttall that was the one we contacted on our exchange a while ago). They're taking commitments so we're very happy for that. We have a lot of new people with potential sadly we cant meet with them right now but we will start to in the future and we are excited for that. All the people that we've helped come to baptism, continue to come to church and are active in activities so that's awesome.
I'm officially over 6 months which is wild, just gotta do that 3 more times then im done. Sheesh
Ok now to the crappy stuff. I'm not going to go into details, if you've been on the news you might know about it but my companion had a really tragic family death. He lost a lot of members of his family in a very not natural way. It was very sad.. it's effected our work a lot and his mental health. We've been stuck inside the last few days and we havent done much. I dont usually ask you all for prayers so you know when i do it's serious, please pray for elder earl and his family. he needs it.
Saturday. Was very refreshing, we went to the mission home in cocody which is technically out of our mission but we were invited by the president. So we went out one night to their place, she fed us good good, we played some board games and we just spent time together. It was really nice. He enjoyed it a lot. If any of you know Manacala, Elder Earl got an African Version of that and we've been playing for a little so thats been fun. and after we got to go see the temple. That was a long day, we didnt get back till way too late. worth it.
i've started to study the come follow me with the new testament. I've had extra time to do it recently with all the time stuck inside. That's been good for my knowledge
I've been training to become a Kandama Master, i'm still a little behind, and i'm really bad. but one day, one day.
I bought orange lékés
Maman Aké gave me pagne because my last set got stolen from someone so now i have more for scripture cases
Well that's all folks, it was quite a week but just know i lov....
SHEESH I ALMOST FORGOT WINNER OF THE WEEK WOOOHOOO
ok this week the winner isss..... Garrett Palmer! I have so many people I want to give it to but I had to choose one person. I chose Garrett because after tons of weeks he finally sent me the music i asked for!! only took a reminder but hey, that's not the most important part, he sent it. Also he sent me his workout plan, i almost died it was pretty hard. 10 minutes of jump ropes then striaght into other workouts. It sucked. I couldnt finish it. But that means it was good. I need to workout more so that helped. ANDDD it was his birthday whaaaaaa. Also he's just a goat and he's learning how to play music on his guitar from my favorite video game. VALIDDDD
anyways shoutout to elder palmer serving in england, he's one of the hardest workers i know and his mission is not too easy infact it's quite a grind. but he's bearing though it. Miss you bro can't wait to ball it up in college together.
anyways NOWWW that's all, love you all i hope you've enjoyed, anyways i'll talk to you next week, remember to keep elder earl in your prayers and his family. We're kinda just pushing through this right now but we'll get to the otherside im confident. see yall next week.
Also Birthday shoutout to granny who won last weeks email. double shoutout that's insane. i know its technically not yet but it's before my next p day so this will do.
