Best Week Ever (Week #21)
What's up Family, and Friends! Love you all I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving and I hope you're blasting christmas music already.
I dont know where to start so i'm definitely gonna be jumping all over the place so i hope you enjoy. This week was the best
Ok Wednesday I had an exchange with the legend Elder Cavé and he's canadian so he already speaks french which is cool. However before that we went to the bank to get money and while we were outside we saw two cars drive straight into a pothole and get stuck. Then a group of 8 teenagers came in stopped traffic and pulled the car out and helped them get around the pothole. One maman paid the teenagers after too. That was one of the most christlike things ive seen here haha it was fun to witness
Anyways his area is great and he's just a fun guy. I learned a lot. We had a lesson with a Maman from Ghana. She could speak french and english but only read in english. We facetimed her husband which was interesting. He was white. and in utah. I told him i'm from lehi and he was able to describe the area it was WILD. He then asked me if it was possible to get her an english book of mormon because she can't read french. Luckily for her I have quite the Book of Mormon collection and i brought an english one which is the exact type that we hand out. (I knew the excessive amounts of book of mormons would come in handy mom)
Also canada played in the world cup that day while we were at hotel kimi meeting with the other elders. I got to watch Elder Cavé watch Canada miss a penalty kick. That was hilarious.
Thursday was Thanksgiving which was probably my favorite day/most memorable day on the mission
First some background
last week i got an ingrown toe nail (ouch). I was able to dig the nail out and clean it up. Now, to my knowledge, it's healed. Woohooo!
Thursday morning i woke up with a second ingrown toenail on my opposite toe. Wow! that sucked. this one was way more infected than the one before. I have pictures but for your sake i wont send.
Also we didint have water that morning so that sucked
But when we came back from our appointment at 12 we had water all over the floor instead! Yup, we flooded the apartment, it was great. My companions sink is always clogged for some reason and he left the sink on, on accident, before we left. so when we got water back while we were gone that thing started flowing until the entire house was filled. prayers up to the neighbors below us hope it didnt effect them.
Then after lunch we went to this place way far out of our zone in the zone above us because we had a baptism interview. The walk there was so awesome because the sky was like super black. The rain clouds were huge and you could tell they were about to come in HARD. Anyways we got to the place. and the rain started. With all the tin roofs you couldnt hear a thing it was so loud. All the sudden Naked african children EXACTLY, like you'd imagine it, started spawning from every corner. next thing you know theres 10 naked africans jumping in water doing all sorts of crap. I saw a kid try and baptize another kid with his hand up and forcing him under the flooded rain water. I saw kids filling up cups with water and splashing it on themselves even though it was already pouring rain and they were soaking wet regardless. The kids started showering and doing all sorts of stuff. It was the most african thing ive seen in africa hahah. I loved it so much.
We got fed like 100x this week the people were great and we worked with members more than we worked alone.
We ate fish aloco and sauce, ignam, pima, and tons of other stuff. Members have been nicing us up recently. Actually more often its friends who feed us the people here are all so nice. they're too nice. They wont let us serve them or anything no matter how much we ask. Whatever. Love you all.
I realize i dont send my testimony often enough. I really do have a strong testimony and it's definitely something i should share, a mission has helped teach me that.
The song this week goes along with my testimony. Its called Control by the same people as last time. I love this song right now and it talks about giving up control and letting christ be your guide. I've definitely had to focus on letting guide lead my life a lot more often. Here on a mission im really just giving my all to him and letting him be my guide. I want my will to match up with his. I want my eyes to be his eyes and my mouth to say as he would. As a missionary it's extra important you're aligned with god. I'm learning now to make my wants gods wants. It's a work in progress and the natural man is definitely doing a great job at stopping me but i'm trying my hardest. As i genuinely pray and seek for help and search for answers, god IS blessing me. He is there for me. I've noticed, he's given me plenty of blessings. I know that as i learn to give up control to god he'll be with me always and support me on the hardest days. I know this church is true and thats why its so important that i do my mission the right way, through god i'll find the success im meant to find. I'm here teaching people what is LITERALLY the most important message they will here in their ENTIRE life. Thats MY job and im here to do it the right way. I love you all and know that as you focus on christ and make your will the will of our father he'll be with you always and youll always have someone to rely on for support. Sorry for the really long testimony i really hope you read and learned something, please listen to the song it goes good with the testimony. See yall next week!
