Another Christmas Email! (African Edition) (Week #25)
MERRY CHRISTMAS WOOOHOOOOO Christmas in Africa was LIT, lets get into it
So much happened this week wow
QUICK NOTES
•i cut my own hair, and it turned out good, shoutout to my haters who didnt think i could do it
•We had zone conference more on that later
•I got to see the rest of my MT's!
•Animal Infestion in the house, also more on that later
•AND it was christmas! I got a lot to say on that.
OK we'll start for real for real now.
I'm starting with zone confernce because i dont remember anything before thursday. wow it was so inspired. Our Mission Leaders are all so awesome. They walked us through the birth of christ with quick little dialogue then a video or something like that. The spirit was definitely there. No, we need to be betters, No judgement, Not really a lot of TEACHING either. Really just a super safe place to feel the spirit and deepen our understanding on the birth of Jesus Christ. It was amazing. I got to talk to tons of missionaries because it was a multi zone zone conference. ANDDDDD they fed us KFC wooohoooo. President and sister litchfield gave us a envelope we can keep our patriartichal blessing and all that stuff in, then i got a package from my mom, new very nice french book of mormon and hot sauce. That was cool.
I got to see the only MT's (Homies from the MTC) that i havent seen at the zone conference. It was awesome they're the best i love em and im gonna be companions with all of them one day. I have a picture. I'll attach it.
We came back and saw a salamander in our apartment which was lit. Good thing he was here cause recently the cockroaches have only gotten worse. We started to get some big ones in here. Not the chinese ones anymore the legit chunky big boys. Lets hope our salamander guy exterminates them.
I bought a christmas tree!
Christmas here is interesting, It's a big party and a big holiday but mostly for the kids. For example maman ake held a big party in the middle of the street tons tons of food loud loud music and a guest ?singer? All of this for kids like under 12 no joke. They were just dancing their head off . And to make it even worse, It was an ALL NIGHTER. for a bunch of little kids and maman ake who is a certified grandma. Wow. They know how to celebrate here. But there was traffic loud music fireworks everywhere.
My family is the goat and sent me tons of gifts. I'll send a picture of a few of them on this email but just know theyre the best too
I got to open christmas presents in my christmas sweats with a christmas tree. It was VALID.
Mid email spiritual thought
I watched the christ child a film given by the church probably 5 times in just 2 days. It's 20 minutes and every single time i watch it i feel the spirit, yes i know christmas is technically over but please go watch it. It'll really deepen your understanding of the birth of jesus christ with and by the spirit.
Chrismas eve we helped a lot of people prepare food and got offered tons of food. We ended up doing just a ton of contacting but we helped some people clean helped some people cook, it was awesome.
I got a pull up bar which is currently unusable in my living situation rip.
I got new highlighters woohooo.
My pagne got stolen on the way to some village with another missionary rip.
I got a soccer ball woohooo.
I got takis. hehe
Now comes Christmas day
Woke up called my family immediately opened gifts with them talked to them it was great. went to church got invited to way too many members houses and then went home and studied
12:30 on the way to the apartment we had a maman offer us food. we ate until we were full. whaa free lunch woohoo yes we'll take it... now if only i couldve warned future me.
2:30 Food was great nothing bad there, finished studying went to frere serge's house. it was a party we were planning on just stopping by and then leaving. well that didnt happen. we got fed tchep which is senegalese fire rice. with chicken also, we were already not hungry but we filled ourself pretty good with that then we thought we were done, nope,
3:30 they brought out a plate of fries and aloco
ok now were done right and stuffed. Nope
4:15we couldnt leave without the cake
finally were out, we then recieve a call from bishop, saying "its necessary you come over to my house" okok were on our way
4:45 ANOTHER FULL plate of food oh no
5:00 The Baguette. OH NO
this dry baguette was the hardest thing to eat so i decided to take it like they do in the professional hot dog eating competition and put the bread in my mouth then drink water of juice and make it soggy and easier to eat. That worked out great, sadly i still had half a plate of food left
5:15 we were about to leave and then offered another HUGE plate of food
we couldnt eat it we took it to go. we had one appointment left before we had to be in at 8 o clock
6we showed up to maman akés the maman that ALWAYS feeds us every single time we go to her place, i was dreading it but we told her we stopped by. Luckily for us she was still occupied with the party she threw for the kids. This same party has now been going for at least 24hours straight. for kids under 12. Respect. I felt like i was gonna throw up but aye i didnt and were chillin
