My First Baptism, and Burritos (Week #15)
What's up everyone, Week 15 on the mission. It's going well! We had a lot happen this week so i'll get into it.
Ok, first this tuesday prince carter from the last email took us to lunch again, that was awesome, he kept telling us to teach people all around us so props to him he's a solid missionary.
Second one day marcellin asked me if i was feeling homesick at all and i said i mean a little but it's not bad i just miss america haha. Then he told me to sit down so i did. he said and i quote
him: Close your eyes
me: OK
him: Imagine you're in the United States, USA and there's a Beautiful Woman in front of you.
me: uhhh ok
him: Eating a burrito
Everyone started laughing haha then he told me to open my eyes and i did and he asked me if it worked, i said of course haha
One important thing to go along with the last story, is simply, he's almost graduated college and he majors in psychology. and that is how he told me to fix it haha
Sad news, someone ate Maman Ake's cat GYRADO. Very sad day, they actually had him as a pet not food but hey, that's life here in africa.
Our Trash Can was swarmed by maggots, We lifted up the lid and bombed that thing with Pesticide. They're all still there, but at least they're dead!
MY FIRST BAPTISM WOOHOO:
So we had three amazing candidates
Soeur Comfort
Prince and Marie Konan
Soeur Comfort was the one that had to get a special interview cause of abortions but she's seriously the best
We did interviews with marie and prince this week and found out that marie also had that problem, it's really sad that it's THAT common in africa, i dont even know how they do it cause they probably dont have the best tools but it's way more common than it should be, she had to get cleared by someone in the presidency as well and friday night just saved by the bell she got cleared for baptism.
THE DAY OF:
so we got to the place and the clothes our ward mission leader got out for them ended up being used by the ward before us so that was the first issue. the second issue was it was a MESS wow. We got there 30 minutes early which i will never do again, ill explain why after, but we were just cleaning and sweeping the entire time. We finally got it all nice looking and then we looked at the time after chilling a little bit and it was 3:30. The baptism started at three. soeur comfort and a couple other people were the only ones here. the other people being baptised didnt even show up yet. at about 4 people really started to show up and we actually had a decent amount of people come. I was a witness and the spot i witnessed i got to make direct eye contact with them while they were getting baptised and they all looked so so happy which was awesome. It ended up going decently smoothly, one of the girls was really scared of the water but props to her for going through with it. it really is crazy to think that this is probably most of their first time going fully underwater in their entire lives. im happy for them all though and it truly was a special day.
Great news, we're getting AC, just before the hot months too! So awesome
I also had two awesome exchanges, dont have much to say except i loved them both, Elder Nuttal who is obedient and super fun and a really good missionary and Elder Hunt who is one of the best examples of Christ-like Love to all the people here so it was really awesome, I ran out of internet while typing this so i will go get internet and then send this haha
Love you all and miss you all! it was also brought to my attention that most of you dont know i have messenger, i do haha my username is carsonwducker! add me on there it's super easy to talk there but email works too. See ya next week !
