Tic-Tac-Toe CHAMPION (week #10)
So, I don't know what happened this week to be honest haha. The weeks are starting to blur. However at the end of the emails if i remember im going to start adding Quote of the Week (Marcellin Edition). That guy always has something crazy to say and it definitely deserves to be shared with you all, stay tuned.
Gods Children:
Pretty much, we simply have the best people ever in the Ivory Coast. Let's start with the food train. Ok first, Soeur Comfort, the one on baptism date, gave us two big fish, ah! That was so nice of her! For no reason too. Later we went to Maman Ake, i've talked about her early on, she's so so awesome. She saw our bag and we explained we had fish in the bag. She then said ah lemme make you some sauce with it, so she took the fish and said she'd make us sauce grene, which is pretty good. Then the next day i'm pretty sure on the way to pick up the sauce and fish and meet with Maman Ake, Soeur Comfort gave us MORE food, she gave us two pineapples, and oranges. Which was awesome, Then a couple days later on the way back from meeting with someone, an amie(friend) gave me a coconut! and i LOVE coconut! So that was awesome. All that not to even mention marcellin offering me all of his food every single time we're at his little shop. he always has hard boiled eggs and little donut hole ball things people have to pay for but he just tells me to eat them all and if i refuse he says elder ducker, you are not my guy. So of course i have to eat them. It just really shows how loving and caring everyone really is here, and how much they're willing to give even when they don't have much to give.
Transfers:
I had two back to back transfers this week, first on Wednesday and then the next one was a 24 hour overnight exchange so we left immediately to the next transfer after my first one with Elder Buna.
Elder Buna: This one was definitely interesting to say the least. He was a little difficult because he definitely was not the most obedient missionary, at all, but we got it figured out. However despite some of the struggles the kids in that area were awesome yet again, you'll see a bunch of pictures from that transfer in this email becausue he took a lot but man it was crazy. We started a lesson and I had two kids on my ankles, one kid on my back, two grabbing each arm and one on my lap, I was surrounded. They loved watching the fact that if you press against my skin it changed colors and I kept faking them with the dumbest magic tricks and they were so surprised haha. Then we went to another place and i found a perfect little blue square in the dirt and started playing tic-tac-toe with one kid, next thing you know, there's a crowd of 10+ kids rotating and taking turns playing me. I won about 70% and tied the other 30%. They all said I was super smart and thought it was crazy that I didn't lose haha. There was also a girl at the stake center probably like 8-9 that kept saying the funniest things. She would grab my hand and she saw the CTR ring on my left middle finger and kept gasping and saying ah are you married!? then i would tell her no and she always had a sigh of relief and said oh good, wait for me. haha. also CTR in French is Choisir Le Bien or (CLB) I always make jokes to the english speakers and say it stands for certified lover boy, a drake album, cause that's what i think of when I see CLB.
Elder Okojie: This guy was awesome, he was super fun and you could tell he loved the area. His area had a really good mix of children and adult, not enough kids to where it was overwhelming but enough kids that if you wanna have fun with a group its easy to find that. He got me involved in the lessons as well and I was sharing about stuff I didn't even necessarily know about which was interesting. I even shared a scripture and one by memory one where we turned to the page and read it and both went well. At the end of the night we did magic again but those kids had me figured out, I walked out of the swarm of kids with shame and a pen taken from me. Besides that the kids were so awesome haha. Also the city was beautiful, their area is called cité verte, verte meaning green, and it was so much greener than our area I loved it! They've got good work going there for them and I hope I serve in that area one day!
Marcellin: We invited Marcellin to come to church and he said ok bro ill come to church I promise. Whatttt Okay! I said yo Marcellin did you just promise? He said, "Oh no I did" Then he said I dont break my word so i will be there. Whaaaaa! Ok! My companion didn't believe that he would come but I did! Then we sat down and taught him a little about Russell M. Nelson because it was his birthday! He looked up a picture and saw that he was 98 years old. He was shocked, especially shocked that he's still in good health. Then he wanted to try on my glasses cause he said people wear fake glasses and it was so funny. He looked hilarious. Even more hilarious with A Giant picture of Russell M Nelson on his computer in the background.
Today was the day, Sunday Morning, Is Marcellin really coming?! We called him at 8, no answer. My companion said I told you so elder! I still had faith. Then we called at 9, i had a good feeling about it, no answer. What's going on! We checked his place on the way where he works most of the time and he wasn't there either! still clinging on to the little faith I had I was hoping he'd just be waiting at church for us. Nope. Texts us at 10:40, "ah sorry my bros, i just woke up" later i went and flamed him a little and he said he'll come next week he owes us and he said if he doesn't he'll read the entire book of mormon. Fingers crossed he comes
That's all love you all
