Narnia? (Week #11)

Ok so straight into it, last P-day we went out to do some contacting and meet some new people because our mission has a goal of meeting and teaching 7 new people per week which is awesome but difficult, so in the process of contacting we decided to go a way we haven't gone much before. It was really cool and we bumped into some people but nothing really stuck. Then we decided to cut through the middle of these two houses and see what we could find. We turned right and it already looked so cool, trees perfectly lining each side to create a perfect path for us to go around this corner. There were benches made of stone and super cool flowery gardens outlining the sides as well, then we finally rounded the corner and boom, a completely different place than i thought I could ever see in my area.

Do you guys remember when I said there weren't too many kids in our area? Our area just has more adults because its more of a city than a community. Well I found where they've been storing all the kids. We turned and boom I dont think i made it 10 seconds without kids already being all over us, as we were walking with the kids someone yelled ah témoin de Jehovah! Which is Jehovahs Witness if you couldnt guess. We responded Ah pas exactement! (not exactly!) and then went over to talk to them, 5 minutes in 20 of our brochures were gone because we had about 30 kids come swarm us and we were just writing our contacts and handing them out as fast as possible, most of them were kids, some were teenagers who we think were interested, and if all else fails, hopefully the brochere finds its way to the parents. That was really awesome though! We got pictures with about half the kids so ill make sure to send that over.

Another day this week we looked outside before we left and it was really lightly raining, very lightly. So I said nah it'll probably calm down i'm not gonna bring an umbrella or anything. Infact i was so confident that i ended up wearing my mission sandals. Big regret. It got worse, A lot worse. but hey good memories right. my hair was drenched my shirt was wet thanks to &Collar's false advertising and my feet were soaked. It was fun though we visited lots of friends, some of which were scared of the rain so I think they weren't having the most fun time.

ALSO quick update our baptismal canidate we were so excited about is getting her baptism delayed cause she still has some preparing to do and transfer is next week so fingers crossed I stay so I can be a part of her process.

SURPRISE! We were about to go into the field and we recieved a call. The people calling asked if it wasnt too last second to do some baptismal interviews, four of them. So we went and helped and those things take a while and my companion does them so i was kinda just chillin there. Luckily, being able to just be with the kids at the church was like a 4 hour language study because I just get to talk with them all the time. I told them in french that the scar that everyone keeps pointing as was a dog bite, then they told me that elder hunt told them he had a fight with like a lion or something and i was like oh man im gonna mess with them too. So we got into it and I told them a scar on my arm was from a gorilla, which they totally believed, and i told them another scar i had was from a tiger. They thought it was so cool and it was really funny.

SPRITUAL EXPERIENCE: THE GIFT OF TONGUES
The first really awesome thing with that is that im starting to see progress, although minor, it's coming! Next thing that was cool was we had a lesson with Maman Aké who is the best. It was a lesson on priesthood blessings and healings, which my french vocabulary is very limited in so i just did a bunch of listening. At the end however i really wanted to share an experience and bare testimony on the power of blessings, sadly I couldnt because i couldnt come up with more than 3 sentences because of the language barrier. The lesson ended and I was still recieving this pretty heavy prompting saying, "share your testimony! share your testimony!" So right before it was too late, before we were about to stand up, i shared my personal experience about priesthood blessings and the power i know they have, I told her about how before i left i gave my grandma and my mom a blessing and how I know they're true, No clue how i said it, I definitely didn't think i could and i don't think i could do it again. However because of that experience I know the gift of tongues and the spirit are true, I could feel the spirit speaking through me so much that in a short span of 10 seconds after i finished talking i completely forgot what i said or how i even formed the sentences and had the words possible to share but i did. I guaruntee it was not perfect french, but she understood well. She even said to me "Wow, Elder Ducker! You're french has improved so so much!" "You just shared an entire story and your testimony on the power of blessings and i understood it perfectly!" That was super super nice to hear and definitely gave me a little boost because before that i felt my language has gone nowhere. Just remember gods with us always and he knows when we need a little pick-me-up. I needed mine right then and he delievered because i'm trying my hardest every day to become more like him and allow the blessings to be given to me and god delievered. Definitely increased my testimony on the gift on tongues, the spirit, and god's love.

Anyways that's all , today it rained a scary amount and i got soaked again. I was going to go get a haircut but it was raining so much that i couldnt get to the barber cause the streets were flooded so that was awesome. Keep in contact guys! I love hearing from you and I miss you all!
