I Love Nicki Minaj
MONDAY: I'm only writing one thing in monday because it's so important I don't think it should share the spotlight with anything else. Monday evening, Elder Miller said "Elder Ducker, I think our relationship as companions rely entirely on whether you know the quote i'm about to read to you"
"Oh no" Elder Ducker with sweat beading on his forehead
"Yup, it's Never go against a Sicilian when death is one the line"
"I have literally not a sliver of any idea" Thought Elder Ducker
"Uh Star Wars?" Elder Ducker stated. Although it clearly wasn't.
Elder Miller sighed in disappointment.
Suddenly a thought entered Elder Duckers head, some would say, it was spiritual revelation.
"Say Princess Bride" said the quiet voice.
"Princess Bride" Elder Ducker stated, still uncertain.
"YES" exclaimed Elder Miller!
Shocked Elder Ducker let out a sigh of relief as the spirit just saved the day, thanks for tuning in on Spiritual Super Powers, make sure to stay tuned next week!
Ok to be honest I really wanna delete all of that right now cause i'm honestly disappointed i took the time to write it out like that but yes it happened, yes i was shocked, yes i genuinely had no clue.
TUESDAY: Honestly this day was kind of bums. My companion had a leadership training cause he's the district leader so I got set up in an exchange with another District Leaders companion, his name is elder otoyo and he's really funny and speaks english, which I was very grateful for. Now we met up at the zone leaders apartment which was a nice change of scenery, and let our companions part ways, I thought that after some study me and elder otoyo would go out into the field and get some work done and serve a little, nope. He's almost done with his mission but he's at the point where really, he's just straight up done with his mission. I asked him what the plan was and he said, oh me and my companion already planned and we only have one appointment and it's later in the evening so we just get to chill! Now cool chillings great, not when I don't have literally anything to do and it's for 7 hours. However I found some things to do, like make goals, ponder in self reflection, read some scriptures in french which i understood very little of, but sadly I finished all of this and still had 6 hours to spare. I lost my pen so luckily i got to spend an hour looking for that, which wasted some time. If you were wondering, i still havent found it. After this all we went to an amie de l'eglise and tried to give her a lesson, however when we got there she was really sick, we wanted to give her a blessing but she said she loves both but she prefers prayer so she wanted us to just pray. strange but at least we could pray for her.
WEDNESDAY: WOOOHOOOO WE DID IT! WE GOT SOMEONE ON DATE FOR BAPTISM!! This was Soeur Comfort who we've been teaching how to read! She's seriously so awesome and I can see the light of christ in her everytime we talk. She finally learned a little and just asked, when can i get baptized? so now she's on date for september 24th which is our collective baptism. I can't wait.
THURSDAY: i got to give someone a priesthood blessing which was awesome! actually, technically two of them! The first girl i just did the annointing, her name is angelle and half of her body is kinda disabled, her arm has no function and her leg has very little, just enough to barely walk. After about 5 minutes of a lesson it was clear she was in a lot of discomfort so she asked for a blessing. She still had feeling to both her arm and leg even tho she couldnt move it and she was in an extreme amount of pain, we gave her a blessing and she's been doing a lot better since! We actually saw her outside of her house too which is rare cause she cant walk much. Then for the second one i got to do the actual blessing, her name was Maman ake and she's seriously the best. she was feeling sick and also asked for a blessing. 2 in one day wild. She asked me to give the blessing and she told me to do it in english which was awesome. I'm so glad I could act in the lords hand and try and help.
FRIDAY: This day was awesome, the night before we gave soeur ake a scripture to read, we gave her alma 15 which is 18 verses, we didnt really have one on mind and while she went to her room to look for her book of mormon i speedily went through early alma and saw one of the introductions said Guerir "to heal" and Bapteme "baptism" I said lets do this one it's short and talks about being healed and baptisms, not my brightest missionary moment, or so i thought, we go the next morning as we said we would. She's bouncing off the walls, not feeling sick at all, ready to take on the world, wow that's great, next she told us she didn't get an oppurtunity to read but she wants to read really bad! So she asked if we could all ready together, turns out, alma 15 is about zeezoram who is sick healed by alma and then because of his exceeding faith he gets baptized, perfect right. We were going in planning on inviting her to baptism too. My companion wrapped it up nicely and then we were ready to put a little bow on it and ask her the big question. We asked andddddddd........ she said no! woohooooo! HOWEVER she said she's almost ready she just wants to learn more about the book of mormon and she said it's not a matter of if she'll get baptised just when which was awesome.
SATURDAY: Exchange! Man saturday was awesome. My companion was elder hunt, who's a stud, and his area is awesome. First we went to the barber, the barber was busy but we talked to him a little and then his wife or girlfriend came in and started talking to us! She was so so so nice and super funny. We went back ate lunch and then planned a lesson to try and hit the barber for a round two. the barber however was still busy but his girl was sitting outside bumping some music and she called us over, very quickly i realized this was most definitely AMERICAN MUSIC lets go!! She goes "AYYYEEEE IT'S NICKI" yelling over the speaker and I go "YO I LOVE NICKI" she thought that was HILARIOUS. I started mouthing some of the music and she got so hyped that i knew it. Then we went to go teach a maman and she ended up being sick and so we taught 4 interested young kids instead, no im serious, legit interested. These kids had a better attention span than any parent we've been with, they sat down, asked questions, didnt move, gave answers, participated. It was Insane. Even a little kid young enough that he couldnt even speak sat on my lap the entire lesson without being a distraction once, i was shocked. I actually participated in this lesson too! Teaching 4 kids is a lot easier than adults. So I taught them what i knew about god prayer and families all in french entirely and even shared a couple scriptures. It was the most i've done in two months which seems so little but also i knew nothing except bonjour before my mission so ill take it. At the end i told elder hunt how i was happy i could participate and also expressed how weird it was that the kids were way more loving here than in my area, he was shocked when i told him i havent been attacked and havent really been around much children. He told me he was gonna make sure i was attacked that day and lets just say he didnt lie.
SATURDAY PART 2
This part deserves its own section. So we were walking down this huge dirt alley and this guy yelling at us stopped us on the side, he said aye elder aye elder aye elder! we turned to the side and started speaking to him, very quickly he goes no no i dont know french, wait what? Someone in Cote d'Iviore that actually doesnt speak french? Turns out he just moved here and he's trying to learn some but he's from nigeria. Dang okay thats awesome. He asked us if we could show him how to get to the ward building and explained that he was a convert in nigeria. So gladly we started walking over to the ward building on the way to the ward building we met two other people headed the same direction, a woman who looked to be in her 20's and a little kid around the age of 6. She came up and just grabbed my hand, it was the cutest thing ever yet the strangest thing ever at the same time, I had no clue that kids did that in africa and it felt so foreign because i havent experienced it in 3 weeks. I soaked it all up tho cause i didnt get much in my area and walked her 15 minutes all the way to the ward building, that was just the start though. We got there and there was more kids than i could count. All of them ran up to me and said they wanted to touch my hair and kept yelling AYYY LE BLANC LE BLANC (The White) and then i'd yell back at them "LE NOIR LE NOIR (The Black)" they thought it was so funny. I'd let them all touch my hair cause they loved it then immediately rub their head just like they rubbed mine and they were so confused haha. i was just playing with them and making fun of them and messing around and learned new handshakes for probably 30 minutes. Also all the kids were holding my hand and one girl came up and grabbed mine and i looked down to see who it was and was instantly thrown back by the fact that this girl was like 14 which was definitely old enough for it to be weird, she was like putting her head on my shoulder and everything so politely i just went and played with the other kids but she kept finding me and doing it and i just looked over at elder hunt and he was laughing his head off haha. Later we talked and he thought it was so funny she was flirting with me for like 10 minutes but i was just mad uncomfortable the entire time haha.
SUNDAY: i'm so sorry for the giant email im gonna go cut some minor things out after this haha but BIENVENUE THE GOAT. Bienvenue technically means welcome in french which was definietly a confusing conversation when i kept asking him his name the first time i met him and he kept saying Bienvenue! (welcome) but he's so awesome, he's an evangilist but he's super interested in what we have to say, weve met with him like 5 times and he loves it so much, infact he told us that on sunday he went to church and brought the book of mormon and held it up and preached with it. Which is so crazy and awesome, he said he had a bunch of people ask him questions so he was asking us for some of the answers! He genuinely believes the book of mormon is the word of god so i dont see it taking much time for him to flip over but that guy is seriously the best and cant wait for him.
Thats all thanks for reading way too much from me but i hope it brought you some sort of joy haha, please respond if you have anything to say i love reading your responses.
