Missionnaire la semaine deux
Bonjour! Welcome to week two of your weekly (for now) missionary report! This week has been packed full of events and things to do. Right after I sent out my email last week I had the opportunity to go to the ghana temple and wow. It's so beautiful and so unique. We got to see the sealing room, the celestial room, and I got to go through the endowment as well! It really was an amazing experience and I cannot WAIT to go through the temple in the ivory coast once it finishes construction in 2023! I talked to all the teachers and leaders here and they're all telling me that I'll for sure be able to participate in the dedication of the temple and I'm so excited.
I'm actually getting to become pretty tight with a lot of the Africans here in the MTC and it's been so fun! There's a couple of Africans who always grab me when we play football (soccer) and push me over to their side and say we want the american we want the american. It's happened a few times which is a few times too much hahaha. They're so funny. I love them so much but sadly most of them are leaving next week. HOWEVER the Africans learning english are going to be here until we leave! They are HILARIOUS. These are all the green dots. Everyone has a dot on their name tag which translates to whatever language they're learning. So for example, these super funny Africans I'm talking about are mostly green dots, which signify that their native language is French and they're trying to learn english. It's super fun to talk to them because they're learning English which they're actually freakishly good at, and we're learning french. So we're trying to talk to them in French but failing and they're trying in English and if anyone messes up we can correct them and teach them what they're saying wrong.
One of the Africans' names is Elder Mulumba, he's a flirt! He tries telling all the sister missionaries that they are a "great pillar of light" and it's so funny, Also he walks in all of the elders rooms and looks for pictures of our sisters. You better watch out Tessa because he said he's coming to Utah for you after the mission. He said you gotta get them while they're young before they're too tall and I responded "you better hurry". I kid you not he's probably got 5+ Utah girls lined up for after his mission. All the Africans' also love love love american candy. candy or "sweets" in french is Bonbons so they'll walk into our residency after lessons and say where's bonbons, i'm not leaving without bonbon.
Sunday was great as well, they called on me during sacrament to share my talk so I talked about the fall of Adam and Eve and how Jesus chose to use his agency and how we can better learn to use our agency. Jesus Christ set the perfect example by always, always, always doing the will of our father and it's definitely good guidelines for all of us! Sunday we also got to listen to an MTC exclusive David A Bednar talk, and watch the Joseph Smith movie. I loved them both so much and had plenty of notes to write down.
Lastly we're finally starting french immersion! It was SOOO hard yesterday but it's crazy the amount we can all understand! It's definitely a challenge but I didn't even expect to be where I am at right now so it's going great! I've had a bunch of highs and a bunch of lows with my companion but were figuring it out and that's going great as well! I love you all and miss you and be ready for Missionnaire la semaine trois because it's only gonna get better! Au revoir ma amies!
